Guess the Movie

Guess the Movie is a movie Wordle: name the mystery film in ten tries. There are no pictures to go on, only clues. Type any film, pick it from the list and see how close it is: the year, the genres, the director, the stars, the country, the runtime, the franchise and the number of Oscars. Green means a match, yellow means close, grey means no match.

✅ How to play

1. Start typing a title and pick the film from the list. There are 6,000 movies in it, all released between 1996 and 2025.
2. Read the clue tiles. The arrows tell you whether the mystery film is newer or older, longer or shorter, and has won more or fewer Oscars.
3. The card at the top gathers everything you know so far — the year range, the confirmed genres, the stars you have found — so you never have to scroll back through old guesses.
4. Stuck? Hints unlock after your 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th guesses: the genres, the director, the lead star and, last of all, the first letter of every word in the title.

The daily movie is the same for everyone and changes at midnight; your streak is saved in your browser. Unlimited gives you a new film whenever you like, and the filters turn it into your own movie quiz: films of the 2000s only, horror only, animation only, or all 6,000 titles for a real challenge.

✅ Tips

• Open with a film you know well from the middle of the pack: a 2000s action or comedy hit tells you a lot about the year and the genre at once.
• A green Series tile means the answer belongs to the same franchise; a green “No series” means neither film belongs to one.
• Stars turn yellow when your film shares an actor with the mystery one. Follow that actor’s other films.
